Ryan's story here about posting into the void and wanting to quit the social media game but then finding community in people from all over the world is utterly magickal.
The internet has broken down boundaries and opened up a whole world...if we are only open to the community that extends beyond our immediate vision.
This is what The Creator Retreat is about. Community.
"growth mostly comes not from my staggeringly brilliant insights but from commenting on others' posts" This was the turning point for me on Substack. When I commented on other people's stories and notes, with genuine heartfelt how I can relate comments, everything started to shift.
I'd love to hear the story of how the Australian talked you out of quitting. Those are the stories we need to hear more of.
I too have struggled with social media. Even know I deactivated my FB to go all in on substack. I am still on IG but that isn't what it use to be. I got tired of chasing the algorithm. My brain also just couldn't handle being online all the time. I appreciate you sharing these insights and perspective. Substack has been a game changer for me in that dept. I felt like I had community on IG until my account got hacked and I lost it. 4000 followers and a community gone. Now I am able to have on Substack what I have been missing. I am still amazed I get to chat and "meet" people all over the world! Plus I got to meet you fine folks!! Thank you for sharing this and giving me a fresh new perspective on this thing we call social media. I appreciate you!
I'm sorry to hear you lost your IG community, and I'm happy you've received such a warm welcome on Substack. You deserve it.
I can relate to the brain's inability to handle being online all the time—it's the same here. We need regular time away.
I'm also excited to have met you. You inspire me, and I look forward to learning from you and your writing. Grateful for your reading and commenting. 🤗
You had me at community.
An insightful post! I love how real and human you are in your writing and in real life conversation.
That's right. I learned today that community drew you to The Creator Retreat🌳.
I feel affirmed when I read your comments, Sam. Thank you. ☺️
You are so kind. You are affirming too, and that is my jam.

Yes, community. I'll say until my deathbed, the reason we're all here is to connect deeply with one another. Thanks for your comment, Teri.
This IS the meaning of life. To connect.

Yeah, I'd love to know what that conversation was about!
You know first-hand the power of sincerity and community.
Actually, we never talked. His offer of support was enough to keep me in the game.
