You had me at the title before knowing you were the author, Teri.
Your message speaks to me. As you know, I’ve wrestled with motivation this year. It feels strange and unfamiliar, even though it was a daily visitor in a former life.
You inspire me with your 30 years of teaching and remind me that teaching is a practice like any other, fueled by intention not outcome.
When we look at intention (and mindfulness) as our motivation and purpose and success rather than outcome, results, or engagement…everything changes inside.
The Creator Retreat is a reminder that the true work is the INSIDE work.
I am crying right now because I feel so seen by your words and who you are. You are literally such an inspiration to me at a time where I really need it. It feels like permission to be me, just as I am, and that I am doing right by me. And maybe it is actually all going to be ok.
Hi Colleen. It's nice to *meet* you. I've seen you commenting and liking my stuff here and there...and I'm always honored when someone finds and reads multiple publications of mine.
Please consider joining the Creator Retreat that starts in March. Check out our About Page and learn more. When you become part of that community, it isn't about being "fans" as much as it is about being connected.
I love your honesty and the way you infuse humor into your writing. The image of you throwing rocks in a ditch as a form of emotional release is priceless! It's a reminder that sometimes, we just need to let it all out, even if it means getting a little muddy in the process. And hey, who knew zombie slaying could be a metaphor for healing generational trauma? You've given me a whole new perspective on Fortnite!
I'm so delighted that we both wrote about zombies on the same day 😂
I saw that we both wrote about zombies (your article is in my to-do pile for today!) and I’m eager to see how that played out for you. i didn’t realize it was the same day. wow. we are on the same wavelength!
and yes, rock throwing in ditches is a very profound way emotional release. as good as a deep hip opener if you ask me.
So proud of you. Great writing. Being the teacher is often its own teaching. ❤️. If you love it, keep doing it. Just to love something like that is a gift.
Thank you Lila. I've been leaning more and more away from the title of "teacher" and the concept of "teaching" and more into the title of "elder" and "guide". Maybe that comes with going over the hump of 50. Less ego. More purpose.
I taught high school for ten years. And while I loved every minute of it, I far prefer teaching adults who choose to attend my class over teaching youth who are forced to attend. It was a trade off, always have a full class, or have small classes and canceled classes of people who really want to be there.

That's a lovely way of capturing this truth. I think every one of us can benefit from being reminded forever about the imperative of going INSIDE.
At The Creator Retreat, we will be doing our part. :)

I promise, it is all actually going to be okay. The truth is, it is all okay right now, we just don't always see the okayness of things.
Teri, one could charge 20-50% in advance and in case of cancellation, one keeps it.
I get it and great piece on perspective.
Thank you for commenting. I appreciate your support.
I'm new to you and your content Teri, but definitely, you're amazing! And I'm a fan. Thank you!

I love that Teri, same for me. Elder! Guide! Mentor!
